Lausanne, 11 May 2014 - The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has dismissed the appeal filed jointly by the Qatari club Al Gharafa and the Australian football player Mark Bresciano (collectively, “the Appellants”) against the decision of the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber (FIFA DRC) of 4 October 2013, according to which, the Qatari club and the player were ordered to pay a compensation of EUR 1,377,000 to the UAE club Al Nasr Sports Club (the Respondent) and a four month playing ban was imposed on the player with immediate effect. Furthermore, the Qatari club was banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, for the next two entire and consecutive registration periods.
The CAS Panel in charge of this matter has confirmed the FIFA decision in full.
On 7 January 2014, the CAS rejected a request for provisional measures filed by the Appellants. The suspension of Mark Bresciano came to an end on 3 February 2104.
